Cynophobia is the fear of dogs. It is one of the most common animal phobias and is frequently caused by a traumatic dog-related experience, particularly in childhood. Because dogs are ubiquitous in modern society, cynophobia can significantly restrict social and outdoor activities.
Symptoms of Cynophobia
- Intense anxiety or panic when near dogs
- Avoidance of parks, streets, and homes where dogs are present
- Physical symptoms: trembling, sweating, rapid heartbeat
